Common Conditions

Hip pain can arise from various conditions requiring a differing approaches to treatment. Common causes include osteoarthritis, tendon and muscle injuries, labral tears and bursitis. Osteoarthritis often presents with painful movement and frequent stiffness of the hip. Bursitis often presents with painful sitting and sleeping, is an inflammation of the small sacs of fluid that cushion the hip. Tendonitis and tendinopathy is an irritation of the tendons surrounding the hip, most frequently involving the gluteal and hamstring tendons. Sports injuries, such as muscle strains/tears, hip impingement and labral tears, are also frequent culprits, particularly for athletes and active individuals.
